Day 2 - PSC 2 - Critical thinking: the competency that doesn't switch itself on
You want to weigh things up? Start by weighing up what's inside you.
Critical thinking is a fundamental competency. It lets us suspend judgement, sort through information, resist manipulation, and argue with precision. It's a real superpower. But this superpower isn't available non-stop.
Every day you process the equivalent of 74 GB of information, that's 16 HD films. No wonder your brain filters, simplifies, skips steps.
And that's the real issue:
👉 an exhausted leader doesn't think critically. They react. They confirm their biases. They decide too quickly. And they run the risk of getting it wrong. Badly.
So what can you do? Work on your critical thinking, yes. But above all: put in place the conditions that let you switch it on.
🎧 Today's audio explains what this PSC 2, Critical thinking, is about. But in today's article, I invite you to go further: to observe yourself, to spot the moments when you can't think clearly, and to turn that into a warning signal.
Today's micro-action:
Note a recent moment when you would have gained from slowing down before reacting. *
Was it a lack of method?
Or a lack of energy, calm, perspective?
Decide on a signal to watch for in yourself, the one that tells you you're no longer fully clear-headed.
Tomorrow: PSC 3, Positive Self-evaluation. Not to flatter yourself. To progress without harming yourself.
See you tomorrow, Krumma
