PSC 12: Managing your emotions. You can't always avoid the wave.

But you can learn to surf.

You don't always choose what you feel. But you can choose how you respond to it. A judging look, a meeting that goes off the rails, an out-of-place remark… and your whole nervous system races out of control. The question isn't whether you feel a strong emotion, it's how you're going to regulate it so you neither explode… nor implode.

That's exactly the role of PSC 12, the ability to manage your emotions. Not to become a machine. To become more human, more balanced, more stable.

It isn't the emotion that's the problem. It's letting it take control of the wheel.

Emotions are neither good nor bad. They're messengers. But without regulation, they become storms. And when you're a leader, an unmanaged emotional storm can throw a whole team off course.

👉 Managing your emotions isn't hiding them. 👉 It's deciding how to turn them into useful information, sound action, aligned presence.

What if we tried it together? SSSTOPPPP, emotional-regulation edition A simple exercise to keep from being swept away by the wave.

S - Stand up: Stand up.
S - Shake your body: Stretch or do 3 free movements to release the tension.
S - Sit down: Sit down, back straight, feet grounded.
T - Take a breath: Breathe in through the nose, breathe out slowly through the mouth (3 times minimum). O - Observe: Which emotion is present? Where in your body? What intensity?

P - Plan: Which emotion do you want to feel, how do you want to be able to behave?

P - Prepare: What needs to happen to move from the 1st state to the 2nd? Do what's needed.

P - Proceed: Act consciously.

P - Pulse: After the event, the meeting, the conversation, take the pulse. How did it go?

🎯 Today's micro-action Spot your next strong emotion (exasperation, anxiety, frustration…). Don't do anything straight away. Run a SSSTOPPPP. Remember, the SSSTOPPPP can be done in 45 minutes or in 3 seconds.

Then observe: what would you have done without that pause? What did you do afterwards? What's the difference between the two?

Managing your emotions is no longer being at their mercy. It's learning to surf. Even when the sea is rough.

Tomorrow it'll be PSC 13's turn, managing your everyday stress.

See you tomorrow, or right now if you need to talk about it.
